M Ward - Transistor Radio
Daneilson - Ships
I've had this album for a few weeks now and it's really catchy, this album is basically a big collaboration between Danielson founder / Main Man (Daniel Smith ) and a whole host of friends and musicians including the amazing Sufjan Stevens.
There's actually almost 40 artist featuring on this album. amazing. Check out these two tracks and see what you think:
Did I Step On Your Trumpet
Bloodbook On The Half Shell
The Brian Jonestown Masscare - Thank God For Mental Illness
I've been meaning to post songs up from this album for awhile. This is ,at the moment, my favourite BJM album so far (9 more to discover!), I love this album for its raw simple sound, listen to these tracks and you'd never guess they were written and recorded in 1996. This is the best music the 90's brought to the plate excluding the obvious mentions (whoever they may be) probably the scariest album cover of the 90's too!Congratulations to Anton Newcombe for making this album for a measly $17! Enjoy
It Girl
Ballad Of Jim Jones
Free And Easy Take 2

Z-Rock Hawaii
These tracks hail from the extremely rare album Z-Rock Hawaii which was a one-off experimental side project with Japanese band The Boredoms & Ween. This was, according to Gene Ween, "Probably the most retarded thing we've ever done."
And boy am I happy i have the full album. If you like wierd screams, non-sensical babblings and general shouting in Japanese this one is for you!

Grizzly Bear - Knife
Here's a track from Grizzly Bear, I've been listening to this album just before Christmas, and it's really attaching itself to me. The melodic arrangements on most of the tracks are done effortlessly , and i don't mean with less efffort!
Anyway they are a Brooklyn based 4-piece band who've been around since 2004 or so. The guys were supposed to play Dublin in November of last year (2006) but they had to cancel due to all their equipment getting stolen from their van in Brussels, leaving them with just their clothes on their back.

Devandra Banhart - Little Yellow Spider
Here's two little dittys from Devandras album NiƱo Rojo. Just got it a few days ago, I really like listening to him when I've blown out my ears with loud music or whatever. His lyrics are sometimes silly which is great because I find a small amount of humor is important in music. He also plays festivals in his underwear which I can believe. If you have the album Cripple Crow this would be quite similar to the style that album.

The Beatles - Get Back
So I've been going Cookoo Ca Ca over this new beatles release. I'm very surprised to be honest. When i first heard about this, I was thinking to myself, great another beatles best of cd that doesn't really encapsulate The Beatles like the records do (or the DVD Anthology for that matter) . But wait, I was completely wrong, George Martin ( & Son) took all existing tapes from Beatles sessions and mixed them up, down and all around. Most of the tracks are from their '65 - '69 period which is awesome! There's also the best sounding 'I Am The Walrus' ever. There is one track called 'Gnik Nus' which is a direct reversal of their Abbey Road track Sun King. Gnik Nus is the perfect intro for the beautiful George Harrison song 'Something', It just blends and melts into it with no effort whatsoever. I don't wanna yap yap yap all over the place but if your anyway interested in The Beatles pick this up, you won't regret it. Oh and if you only have 'The Beatles - 1' throw it away and get this instead. This track 'Get Back' starts with the first chord from 'A Hard Days Night' then the drums & guitar from 'The End' while in the background the orchestra from 'A Day In The Life' is going until it climaxes then it kicks into to Paul singing 'Get Back'

Brian Jonestown Massacre - Anenome
Ok I wanted to put up a Brian Jonestown Massacre track last Sunday night to coincide with the gig on in Dublin. However technology failed (as usual). I've only bought one of their albums (12 more to go). I really like these guys, You listen to the album and you'd swear you were in Haight Ashbury in the mid-sixties or something! Anyways if you haven't seen the documentary about them i highly recommend renting 'Dig!' It follows Anton (lead singer) and his bunch of merry men on their road to ruin , it even documents all the physical fights they've had while they're on stage. Not to be missed.

Ween - Powder Blue
Welcome to the random mp3 page. I'll be using this page to post mp3's whenever i find something worth putting up.
This one is a gem.
The original version of Powder Blue runs for 4:16 and ends with a sample from Muhammad Ali. Ween were denied permission to use the sample by the Ali lawyers, but Elektra pressed the album (12 Golden Country Greats) accidentally. Only a few copy's remain. Here's the full 4:16 minute version of the song. Enjoy
